Online Vehicle Registration Renewals
Fremont County customers can now pay for
Vehicle registration renewals using credit and debit cards, according to Fremont County
Assessor Kathy Thompson. The new payment option is available
for over-the-counter, and n-line transactions through the Assessor’s Office.
“More and more citizens expect government entities to accept the same forms
of payment as retail stores, ”Thompson said. “Paying by credit or debit card
is a faster and more convenient option for many people.”
The county accepts any credit or debit card featuring a VISA, MasterCard,
Discover, or American Express logo. Previously, customers could only pay by
cash or check. Since no tax dollars or county funds were used to develop and
maintain the service, a 3 percent fee is added to each transaction to cover
costs.
Fremont County partnered with Access Idaho, the state’s official Web portal
that specializes in electronic government applications, for help with
setting up and running the service.
