Where to apply for your marriage license?
Marriage licenses are issued in the Recorder’s office.
*If you are married in Idaho, you must obtain a marriage license. If you are married in another state, you will need to get a license from that state.
*Two copies of the license are issued – one is for the couple, the other is sent in by the person who performed the ceremony to be recorded.
Who can perform the wedding ceremony?
Judge, Mayor, or Minister. You will need to contact these people early so you
will be placed on their calendar.
What you will need if you are over 18 years of age.
*Both parties must be present at the courthouse
*Both need forms of photo identification and proof of age
*Both need Social Security Cards
*Read and Sign pamphlet on AIDS (in the recorder’s office)
*Cost: $28.00 (cash, check, or money order)
What you will need if you are 16 or 17 years of age
*Both parties must be present at the courthouse
*Both parties need forms of photo identification and proof of age
*Both parties need Social Security Cards
*Each person under 18 needs a parent’s signature and the parent must be present
*Read and sign pamphlet on AIDS (in Recorder’s Office)
*Cost: $28.00 (Cash, check, or money order)
What you will need if you are under 15 years of age
*If you are under 15 years of age, you must have an appointment with the
Magistrate Judge to obtain a court order permitting the 15 year old to be
married.
*Each person under 16 needs a parent’s signature and the parent must be present
